5 Best Bluetooth Speakers for Your Bathroom

best Bluetooth speaker for bathroom

A lot of music lovers appreciate a system that lets them sing along in the bathroom. That desire requires a sturdy device that has excellent audibility and holds up against water and steam.

If you’re one of those people, we’ve compiled a list of the five best Bluetooth speaker for bathroom.

Selecting Your Speaker

Choose a speaker with an excellent IP rating. That’s a scoring system that evidences water- and dust-resistance based on third-party, accredited standards. Here are examples of how to use the rating to choose a bathroom speaker.

An IPX7 rating means your speaker can be wholly immersed at a depth of one meter for no less than 30 minutes. A speaker with an IPX6 rating will withstand a showerhead’s high-pressure jets.

The ratings are for speakers in general, not specific to bathroom conditions. Despite the rating, even manufacturers who have received these ratings might tell you not to put their speaker in direct contact with water.

Our Recommendation of Best Bluetooth Speaker for Bathroom

1. Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM 2

2. JBL Clip 4

3. Bang & Olufsen Beosound A1 Gen 2

4. Anker Soundcore Motion+

5. Moxie Bluetooth Speaker Showerhead

The criteria for getting on the list included cost, availability, power source, voice assistant, network capability, and more.

1. Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM 2

Pros

  • 360-degree sound
  • Small profile
  • Strong battery life
  • IPX67 rating

Cons

  • Volume isn’t loud
  • No voice assistance
  • Issues with low bass
  • No customization

This option may hands-down be the finest shower speaker out there. The WONDERBOOM 2 is compact and rugged and has a 360-degree design with a spacious soundstage.

Coming in several colors, its manufacturing is of a two-tone knit fabric. There are large control buttons (some may find this displeasing) for pairing, music management, and power.

The range is good, keeping vocals and lead sounds in the mixes with decent dynamics. There are a few compression artifacts at max volume, ensuring clear and clean play. It has the capacity for a wide range of audio content. It’s rechargeable, giving you up to 13 hours of play on a single charge.

Yes, we love this device, but that doesn’t mean it’s perfect. Music lovers use to applying Alexa or Cortana to support listening won’t find that support with the WONDERBOOM 2. And if you’re big on bass-heavy rumble, you’ll find this solution doesn’t sufficiently reproduce low bass.

2. JBL Clip 4

Pros

  • Sturdy build
  • Good soundstage
  • 360-degree system
  • Light indicators for pairing and activation
  • IP67 rating

Cons

  • No voice assistance
  • No built-in EQ
  • Limited control features

The JBL Clip 4 has a carrying hook that hangs on the shower or curtain rod. The battery-powered solution is compact, actually fitting in your hand.

The design is tight netting that wraps the speaker. The speaker’s durable and thick and promises to hold up against unexpected impact on tiles. There are user-friendly, if limited, controls. For instance, you can skip to the next track but not go back to a previous track.

It’s not a 360-degree system, but the JBL Clip 4 has a pretty creative soundstage. You will get wide and spacious music throughout the bathroom. But like many of these devices, it downmixes stereo content into mono. That dilutes the immersive experience.

The device does come with sub-par frequency response. If placed flat (logo side up), the JBL wrestles with thump-filled low bass. The boomy sound often comes across as muddy, and there are no customization features for tweaking it.

3. Bang & Olufsen Beosound A1 Gen 2

Pros

  • Outstanding voice assistance
  • A mute mic feature
  • Battery-powered
  • IP67 rating

Cons

  • Not Wi-Fi compatible

Bang & Olufsen’s Beosound A1 Gen 2 connects to your phone and supports Alexa. Voice assistance is well-defined and has no trouble hearing you with the shower running or from a distance. The Beosound even has a mute feature.

The Beosound is a top-tier choice, supporting stereo content and getting good music in a noisy shower. Small and lightweight, it has impressive directivity, providing a wide soundstage. The device doesn’t get too loud for outdoor use, but it’s good enough for me-time.

As it’s battery-powered, Bang & Olufsen’s solution never needs plugging in to an outlet. Bluetooth offers TWS mode. The feature lets you use Bluetooth to connect two speakers, giving you a stereo pair. You can pause and, if paired with your phone, can accept or reject a call.

The speaker does downmix stereo content to mono. That diminishes the possibility of deep sound. You’re also going to find max volume compression artifacts. It affects audio clarity at high volumes.

4. Anker Soundcore Motion+

Pros

  • Outstanding battery life
  • Gets pretty loud
  • IPX7 rating

Cons

  • Narrow soundstage
  • Struggles with low bass

For affordability and performance, you won’t beat the Anker Soundcore Motion+. Set up for horizontal play, the best place is on a counter or shelf outside the shower.

The Anker Soundcore has decent mid-ranges and cleanly reproduces vocals and lead instruments. To the keen ear, it can be evident that higher frequencies come across as veiled or dark.

That’s due to the device’s underemphasized treble. But all you need to correct the issue is to get your hands on the Soundcore app. It has an equalizer for customizing sound profiles.

You won’t feel that deep rumble and thump you may like in your hip-hop or EDM, despite having a BassUp feature. The device can be pretty loud, but there’s compression present at maxed volume.

Still, for the price, anyone who enjoys singing along with music in the shower will appreciate the Anker Soundcore Motion+.

5. Moxie Bluetooth Speaker Showerhead

Pros

  • Bluetooth capability
  • A magnetic speaker that holds in place
  • IPX7 rating

Cons

  • Expensive

KOHLER outdid itself with the concept of taking a shower with your music. KOHLER’s Moxie Bluetooth Showerhead is (holding breath!) a wireless, waterproof, radio speaker, portable speaker, AND showerhead.

Yeah, it’s top dollar in the world of shower speakers, but it’s worth every penny saved. Teaming up with sound genius Harman Kardon, KOHLER’s produced a technologically unique bathroom fixture, taking the term “shower speaker” literally.

You need no tools as the speaker’s magnetic and holds securely in place. Remove the speaker and place it on its dock. Put it back, and you have an acoustically tuned, wireless solution above your head. All the controls are right there on the speaker’s side.

The silicon spray face has a nozzle design that angles around the speaker. Bluetooth capability lets you pair with your favorite music streamer, podcast, or other content.
